Recycleable carpet backing – polymer binder

VAE has several advantages for carpet backings.

• It can be largely biobased, it’s already possible produced by using biosourced Acetic acid, and in the near future, also Bio-ethylene will be used.
• VAE is ofte solluble in (alkaline) aqueous solution(depending on specific grade)
• It is often solluble in solvents (depending on specific grade)
• It is basically thermoplastic and seems not to affect the recycling of other thermoplastics.
• VAE is also used to enhance the properties of bioplastics, like PBAT, PLA, PBS, PHA/PHB.
